Keenan Costain is a TikTok star, comedian and influencer.

The Charlottetown resident is known for playing Sus and Louise on the social media platform where he has more than 100,000 followers.

Costain has partnered with the P.E.I. government and brands like, Walmart, Starbucks, Old Spice, and Taco Bell.

We asked him 20 questions.

1. What is your full name?

Keenan Peter Costain.

2. Where were you born and where do you live today?

I was born in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, but I lived in Cornwall most of my life for high school years in grade school and then I moved to Charlottetown and now live in Charlottetown.

3. What is one thing you would like people to know about you?

I love spending time with my fiancé's family and spending time with nieces and nephews. I'm very family oriented and always want to be around family and have that close family kind of relationship.

4. What would people be surprised to learn about you?

People might think like, oh, I’m a TikToker and social media influencer, I'm very good with like crowds and audiences, but I still get nervous and anxious anytime I do something new or present or talk in front of crowds. Most of the time, I'm just anxious or nervous when I see a bunch of people that recognize me anywhere.

5. What is the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

I think for myself, and probably many others, the whole pandemic, like with the lockdown and whatnot, being a very family and friend-oriented person, and very social, it was very hard to be locked down in the house for so long.

6. Can you describe one experience that changed your life?

It kind of sounds cliche or whatever, but just starting when I downloaded TikTok social media. As soon as I downloaded it, I started kind of expressing myself and some people that I worked with, or people I knew that didn't really see that side of me they started seeing a more comedic style. And then it's brought me crazy opportunities in my life that I would have never had.

7. What is your greatest indulgence?

I'm a big Starbucks person. The people there know me like it's one of those indulgences, they just released their pumpkin menu. I always get that or baked goods from a bakery. I'm just a sucker for like cheesecakes and muffins and biscuits, anything baked goods is just I'll just eat the whole tray if I can, but usually come to my own senses and stop before I eat too much.

8. What is your favourite book?

I'm not much of a reader so pretty well, anything on Netflix and I just put the subtitles on and that's pretty much the reading.

9. What is your favourite movie?

Just any Austin Powers movie with Mike Myers as the Dr. Evil and Austin Powers characters. Those are movies I watched when I was younger, and I could still watch and laugh and carry on and I can I always get some inspiration from Mike Myers and stuff. He's a Canadian actor and that kind of started me trying to impersonate him to make jokes like him kind of be funny and comedic and that way.

10. What music do you like to listen to?

I listen to everything from country music, hip-hop, EDM music, but I'm a very seasonal person. In the summer I'll listen to country music and then in the winter I'll probably start switching over to more hip-hop, EDM music for the gym and workouts and stuff like that. But I just listen to everything

11. How do you like to relax?

I don't do much relaxing so I would say the only real time I relax is probably when I'm either laying on the couch or watching a show on Netflix or when I sleep at night. I'm not one for sitting still and relaxing. I’m kind of always on the go or doing something so I'm not much of a relaxer.

12. What are you reading or watching right now?

Right now, I'm watching this Tyson Fury series on Netflix. And then I just watch all those other kind of reality shows like “Love is Blind” and stuff on Netflix. That's another place where I get some content ideas where I'll make East Coast Canadian versions of the reality shows.

13. What is your greatest fear?

Probably not to be not able to support my family and whatnot. Also, with global warming itself it seems like we're starting to lose summer bit by bit and I feel like we are losing the beaches on Prince Edward Island as well. Like, there's just certain things that we just need to have that kind of P.E.I. feel.

14. What is your greatest joy?

My greatest joy is probably just spending time with my fiancé and my dog and kind of visiting family and stuff and going for nice drives.

15. What is your most treasured possession?

My iPhone or my coffee machine. One of those things is overused, that's for sure. Such a millennial thing to say.

16. What’s the best advice you got from a parent or mentor?

The best advice I got from my mom was always just kind of always set some money aside and always have some money set aside. So, if any emergency did come up or anything happened, always have some stuff there. So, she’s always giving me great financial advice and help me and she still to this day

17. What would you say is your best quality, and what would you say is your worst quality?

Probably my silliness and humour, I'm very good at getting along with most people I meet. Usually, if I meet someone new, I can kind of carry on and connect with them in some way. But then there's also this, sometimes I don't really have a filter. My mouth can get me into troubles or my sarcasm, and some people might not understand my sarcasm and take it as like an offense or something. But it's just, I'm just joking.

18. Where is your favourite place in the world?

Well, me and my fiancé went to Hawaii this past winter. And it was a very P.E.I. feel. It was warm and tropical and I just loved it there. And I'd say Hawaii would be probably my favourite place in the world P.E.I. is still a runner up for sure.

19. Who do you follow on social media?

On social media I follow a really big inspiration of mine, her name is kallmekris. And she just does skits and comedic comedy and stuff and like that kind of gave me inspiration that put my spin on things and dress up and do costume comedy and stuff. So, I follow along with her and just see how far she's gone. And I just set goals to hopefully be there some day.

20. Which three people would join you for your dream dinner party?

One of them would probably be Drake because I think he's just hilarious and he's just awesome. Jeff Bezos, I probably just ask him for some shares or something in Amazon or some tips and tricks to see how I can get there. And Boomer Gallant, he's from P.E.I. and used to be a CBC weatherman.
